SOLD and shown as an example of my work
This stunning antique maple storage chest, circa 1800's, is solid wood with gorgeous wood grain. This chest displays beautiful Birdseye Maple wood accents on the 3 drawer fronts which operate smoothly on wood runners.
This chest was crafted with Knapp joints on the 3 drawers. The Knapp joint was patented by Charles Knapp in 1867. and was used by the craftsman who created this piece. This distinctive type of antique joinery was used 1870-1900,
The original brass hardware and keylocks (no key for lock) were cleaned and polished to original patina. This chest rolls, but original wooden castors were broken so I replaced with 4 new castors. This is a heavy piece of furniture so the fact it can be rolled is a definitely a plus.
The sides and frame were refreshed with black paint with the addition of a decorative pattern to the bottom front. This is an extremely "handsome" one of a kind piece of furniture with endless possibilities for placement in your home.
